Refounding Institutions
In conversation with Daniel Blyden: Civic Square

Daniel Blyden is Co-founder and Director of Design at Civic Square, which is demonstrating neighbourhood-scale civic infrastructure for social and ecological transition, together with many people and partners in Ladywood, Birmingham UK.

Daniel is a designer, design facilitator and creative producer interested in the role of design in leadership and building design capacity in people and organisations. Drawing on a wealth of knowledge and experience with design-led innovation methods, tactical urbanism and a background in visual communications and event production, Daniel uses design theory to help teams and communities create playful learning spaces and cultures where everyone can participate in decision making.

He was previously design lead at Impact Hub Birmingham and co-founder of Spaghetti, a strategic design and social innovation collective that worked with local government and public institutions to look at how they can design space to have important and valuable conversations to enact change.

Daniel was in conversation with Joon-Lynn Goh, a cultural organiser and co-founding director of Migrants in Culture.
